Jonathon Gurule, DO
Dr. Jonathon Gurule is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Dr. Gurule performs a broad spectrum of procedures including shoulder, hip, and knee joint replacements. He also performs minimally invasive, and arthroscopic surgery to commonly repair or reconstruct ligaments, cartilage, and tendons. He is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care while helping patients return to the activities, sports, and lifestyles they enjoy.
Dr. Gurule’s connection to the region began during medical school, where he graduated top of his class from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University. His connection to Jonesboro became even more meaningful during medical school, where he met his wife, Hallie Frederick, who is a lifelong member of the Jonesboro community.
After medical school, Dr. Gurule went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at Oklahoma State University, where he developed broad expertise in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of orthopedic conditions. During residency, he was nominated to serve as Chief Resident, reflecting his commitment to leadership, education, and patient care.
Following residency, Dr. Gurule pursued advanced subspecialty training in sports medicine through a fellowship at the University of Buffalo, one of the country’s highly regarded sports medicine programs. His fellowship training provided extensive experience in the treatment of complex musculoskeletal and sports-related injuries. He also had the unique opportunity to care for professional athletes, providing comprehensive sideline and training room medical coverage for both the NFL Buffalo Bills and NHL Buffalo Sabres.
Whether treating an elite athlete, a weekend warrior, or someone simply looking to regain mobility and quality of life, Dr. Gurule’s goal is to develop a treatment plan tailored to each patient’s needs and help them get back to doing what they love.
Although his training has taken him across the country, Dr. Gurule is proud to return to Jonesboro with his wife and serve the community that has played such an important role in their medical careers.
